Day 8 of Prayer: Obedience

When Hezekiah became ill, to the point that he was going to die (and that was even confirmed by Isaiah) he turned to the wall and prayed, asking God to remember how he had served him, then he wept bitterly. Because God heard Hezekiah's prayer he chose to give him an additional 15 years to live. In response to that, Hezekiah wrote a response to his illness and recovery, the following verse is part of that.

Isaiah 38:19
 19 The living, the living—they praise you,
    as I am doing today;
parents tell their children
    about your faithfulness.

and

 Colossians 3:20
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Father,
Help Adam and I to be faithful and obedient to You, for we know this pleases You. We want our children to hear us give You praise and thanks for all You do, whether You give or take away. By leading and being an example of being obedient we want to bring glory to Your name, just as Abraham's faithfulness did. And just as Hezekiah mentioned, we too will tell our children about Your faithfulness. Help us to lead them in a home that is faithful to serving You so that they know what it means to be obedient.
Amen
